Jeep Projects: Fog Lightbulb Replacement
|
3/20/05 |
|
|
The replacement bulb for the Liberty fog lights is 9145, but that part is more difficult to find than 9005, which is very similar. This project describes how to modify an 9005 bulb for use on the KJ. |

Review: Sylvania SilverStar
|

|
|
Recently, Sylvania released a new line of headlamps, called the SilverStar. Still based on a Halogen design, the Sylvania claims the SilverStars are brighter and whiter than run-of-the-mill Halogens and almost as bright as HIDs. |

Great lights. Picked them up for 60 bucks at Pep Boys (10 dollar mail-in discount). They look good and work great. |

I have had these bulbs in my KJ for a month now. They may seem the same to Silverstars but they come with a lifetime warantee from PIAA. If the bulbs burn out, they will be replaced free of charge. I got these after my Silverstars burned out after 9 months of use. I love these bulbs and highly recommend them to anyone who dosent like buying bulbs alot! |

Sylvania SilverStar Headlamp Bulbs (9007ST)

"SilverStar® is whiter light, closer to the color of daylight. Whiter light helps you see better at night. And if your night vision is better, night driving is safer."
Be sure to shop around...some auto parts stores charge $50 or more for a pair.
NOTE: SilverStars will NOT last as long as OEM or standard aftermarket halogen bulbs! Most users report a life of 6 months to 2 years.

This is the lowest "Buy It Now" price I've found, with $2 shipping. You will probably be able to get an even better price by bidding...maybe under $20 shipped. Be careful not to pay too much for shipping. |

Update: I've had these installed for 3 years now, and they still work great. I can't say why others have had them burn out so quickly. |

Just installed, and they look really good, but I compared a Silverstar to a stock bulb (installed one Silverstar, then turned on the headlights), and there's not a huge difference. Apparently the stock headlight bulbs are pretty good. Still, the Silverstars are great bang-for-the-buck compared to more expensive alternatives, like PIAA. |

Low-cost alternative to Hella, KC, etc. A LOST member bought these and put them on his basket--they work and look great.
If nothing else, these would be great to mount under your Jeep for night-time rock crawling.

The cheapest offroad lights out there, but they're very bright (100w each lamp.) Nearly impossible to aim them properly up and down, but a good deal for about $15 and well worth it if you just need some light. |
